This page explains the app and links to public pages of the EU and the competent authorities. It is not legal advice. We are not affiliated with these bodies. The legal texts and the authorities' information are what counts.
Which duties the app covers
Batteries (EU Battery Regulation, in Germany also the BattDG): if you sell batteries or devices with batteries, you have to inform about free take-back, the crossed-out wheeled bin and the hazards of the battery. Producers and importers also need to register.
Electrical devices (WEEE Directive, in Germany the ElektroG): customers must learn how to return old devices. If you have a take-back duty, you show the take-back symbol.
Charger pictogram (Directive 2022/2380): for phones, headphones, laptops and other devices charged by cable, the price must be accompanied by whether a charger is included and which charging power the device needs.
Data Act (Regulation 2023/2854): before buying connected devices, customers must learn which data the device generates and how they can access it. The manufacturer supplies this information.
Since when does this apply, and to whom?
Batteries, EU: Since 18 August 2025 the retailer duties of the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 apply. Every retailer has to take back portable batteries free of charge (Art. 62) and inform about returns, the crossed-out wheeled bin and the hazards (Art. 74). This applies regardless of the size of the store, so to practically everyone who sells batteries or devices with batteries.
Batteries, Germany: The details are set out in the Battery Law Implementation Act (BattDG), in force since 7 October 2025. It replaces the Battery Act, which already required similar notices before. Online retailers show the notices clearly visible and easy to find on their website or enclose them with the shipment (§ 24(3) BattDG).
Electrical devices: The notices on returning old devices (§ 18(3) ElektroG) apply to retailers that have to take back old devices. Online, these are retailers with at least 400 m² of storage and shipping area for electrical devices; in a shop, from 400 m² of sales area. Anyone selling e-cigarettes or electronic tobacco heaters has to take them back regardless of size.
Take-back symbol: Retailers with a take-back duty show the symbol of Annex 3a ElektroG on the product page or at checkout and explain how returns and pick-up work (§ 18a(4)). The duty came with the amendment of the ElektroG of 25 November 2025; the transition period ended on 30 June 2026. Since 1 July 2026 the symbol is mandatory. For smaller stores without a take-back duty it is voluntary, and the app shows it as a recommendation.
Charger pictogram: Since 28 December 2024, phones, headphones, tablets, cameras and other devices charged by cable must state whether a charger is included and which charging power they need (Directive 2022/2380). For laptops this applies since 28 April 2026.
Data Act: Since 12 September 2025, customers must learn before buying a connected device which data it generates and how they can access it (Art. 3(2) of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854).
These dates apply to EU law and to Germany. Other countries transpose the WEEE Directive with rules and deadlines of their own; you find the competent authorities below under official sources. This overview is not legal advice.
Setup step by step
The setup guides you through every step and ticks off finished items by itself. You find it in the menu under Setup.
First you answer a few questions: what you sell, whether you are a retailer or a producer and which countries you ship to. From the answers the app switches on the areas you need.
Under Returns & countries you enter the return address, the ways to return and, if needed, your registration numbers.
Then you add the app's block to the product page of your theme, create the disposal page and turn on the notice on the thank-you page and the order status page.
Assigning products
Under Products you assign each product to the matching areas: batteries, electrical devices, charger pictogram and Data Act. Only assigned products show the notices.
You can edit products one by one or many at once, filtered by collection, product type or tag. The app suggests products whose texts mention rechargeable batteries, batteries, charging cables or connected features.
With many products, the CSV import in the Business plan helps.
AI suggestions and AI bulk check
In the product editor, the AI researches the web at the press of a button: battery type, chemistry, electrical device category and charger details, each with sources. For this the title, vendor, description, SKU and barcode go to OpenAI, no customer data.
With the AI bulk check (Pro and Business) you send up to 10 selected products to the AI at once. The suggestions show up in the product list.
The AI can be wrong, especially when it finds no manufacturer data. That's why the app only takes over a suggestion after you have checked and confirmed it.
Countries, registration numbers and languages
Every delivery country has rules of its own. In some countries registration numbers must appear in the store or on invoices, for example in France, Spain, Italy or Poland.
Customers abroad need the notices in their language. Status shows you which language of your delivery countries is missing in your store.
The country watcher (Pro and Business) compares the delivery countries in your Shopify shipping settings with your setup and reports new countries.
At the bottom of this page you find the competent authorities and registers for each country.
After the purchase: thank-you page and order email
The return notice also appears on the thank-you page and the order status page. For that you add the app's block there.
For the order confirmation and the packing slip the app gives you code to paste. With one click it also writes the code into all language versions of the template.
Plans and extra features
Free includes every area for up to 20 products. Basic, Pro and Business have no product limit and differ in their extra features.
AI suggestions come with Basic and up, the AI bulk check and the country watcher with Pro and up. The weekly email with open items and the CSV import belong to Business.
You can try every paid plan free for 7 days. Billing goes through your Shopify invoice.
Your responsibility
The app provides sample texts, notices and suggestions. It is not legal advice and doesn't replace it.
Whether and which duties apply to you depends on your business. Check the details and, if in doubt, ask the competent authority or a legal adviser.
Frequently asked questions
I'm only a retailer. Do I need to register?
Usually not. Producers and importers have to register. However, if you import goods from abroad yourself or sell them under your own name, you often count as a producer. The setup asks about this and shows you what applies to you.
Why don't I see the notices on my product page?
Check two things: the product must be assigned to an area, and the app's block must sit on the product page in your theme. Status shows both.
What happens to my data during the AI research?
Only product data goes to OpenAI: title, vendor, description, SKU and barcode. No customer or order data is sent.
Can I change the texts?
Yes. Under Texts you adjust every text your customers see. Empty fields go back to the sample text.
What applies in Switzerland and the United Kingdom?
They have their own rules outside EU law. The app shows a note when you ship there. The sample texts are written for the EU and the EEA.
How do I cancel a plan?
Under Plan you can switch to Free at any time. Shopify credits you the unused time.
